Bond University Sports Science Building
Michael Bale & Associated completed the design, documentation for the
Bond University Sports Science Building which consists of a two storey
building and basement car park. The construction is steel framed roof,
concrete tilt panel walls, suspended concrete slabs, and concrete slab on
The project involved extensive earthworks and incorporates external
volleyball courts, internal gymnasium, exercise rooms as well as a function
room with balcony overlooking the 50m Olympic pool.
UniLodge, 190 Vulture Street Brisbane
This $90M development involves the design and documentation of two 16‑storey student accommodation building constructed concurrently with a linked floor diaphragm. The project contains 850 student accommodation rooms as well as basement bike parking areas, commercial space on the ground floor and student residential apartments provided on levels 1-16 with a roof terrace above.
The project commenced construction in October 2015 with completion in December 2016 for student intake for the January 2017 semester.
Varsity College Junior Learning Centre
The Varsity College Junior Learning Centre is a 3 storey concrete framed structure in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast. Built within an existing facility the project includes extensive floor plates of 75m x 30m to allow up to 54 classrooms and cover learning areas. The civil engineering solution required reconfiguration of the existing services to allow building footprint to be positioned in an area with significant existing services for sewer, water, power and stormwater.
The structural aspects of this project involved two levels of post-tensioned floor slabs, concrete walls and columns, piled foundations and masonry retaining structures.
Hillcrest Early Years Campus
Hillcrest Christian College required civil and structural engineering services for a new purpose built Early Years Campus.
The project involves the design of junior classrooms in the iconic college overhanging a dam watercourse.
The project is a two storey structure which includes:
Suspended concrete slabs;
Feature architectural façade.
Warwick State High School, Year 7 Building
The Warwick SHS project includes the construction of a three storey building incorporating general learning areas (GLA’s), six tennis courts, two basketball courts, amenities, covered walkways and undercroft areas. Detailed earthworks were required to balance cut and fill in flood plains to eliminate flooding effects on surrounding land. The structural engineering components associated with this project include suspended concrete slabs, piled foundations and lightweight steel roof structures.
The project was a significant building and extension of classrooms and sporting fields which was delivered on time and on budget.
Kimberley College, Arts Building & Library
The Kimberley College 2015 Projects are an extension to the existing school facility with the addition of 4 new buildings combined with covered pavement courtyards and walkways. The project will be divided into 3 stages to be constructed within the 2015 school year;
Junior classrooms and linking courtyard;
Library building and walkway structures;
Arts building and walkway structures.
Our scope included all structural and civil engineering works for the project.
Kimberley College, Year 7 Building
This project is an extension to an existing school facility with three new single story buildings over a common suspended deck. The delivery of the project involved both structural and civil engineering works including the design of suspended lightweight floor and roofing structures, stormwater overland flow, new pavements and car parking areas, feature landscaping and extensive awning for outdoor canopies and outdoor learning areas.
